Living and working in Vienna are two parameters which define spaces of existence and format individual artists’ biographies. What will be presented in the Kunsthalle Wien is the result of artistic work processes. The artists who have found a center of their life and work in Vienna show themselves to be global players and multi-tasking experts who feel at home in a wide variety of media. Their works burst boundaries between different genres of art and oscillate between art and popular art and, frequently, between art and the everyday world. Both art and life encompass communicative plateaus, acoustic designs, visual flashes, ruptures in the consciousness, and forms of mind expansion. With this exhibition, the Kunsthalle Wien offers itself as an access to the artists’ studios and as an extended workbench, as it were, providing a view of the full range of artistic production in the city.
