VIENNAFAIR - NEW VISIONS - New Collections in Austria

Curator: Bettina M. Busse

The NEW VISIONS exhibition is a display of the spectrum of collecting activity in Austria. A strong emphasis will be placed on newer collections of domestic and international art. ‘New’ here has many connotations; new collections, new kinds of collections, younger collectors.
The goal of this event is to document the latest developments over the last few years. Does Austria collect internationally? Do the works of international artists shown in Austrian galleries remain in Austria? How do Austrian collectors react to contemporary developments and trends in modern art, and how is this reflected in the collections?
This issue will be dealt with using a number of prominent case studies. The project focuses on the interaction between private collectors and galleries as regards modern art in Austria.
